花屋の店先に並んだ
I saw many kinds of flowers lined up in front of the flower shop.
いろんな花を見ていた
lined up in front of the flower shop.
ひとそれぞれ好みはあるけど
everyone has their favorite kinds
どれもみんなきれいだね
but all of them are pretty.
この中で誰が一番だなんて
Without competing
争うこともしないで
to see which was the best among them,
バケツの中誇らしげに
they were standing straight up

So why then do we humans
どうしてこうも比べたがる？
have to compare ourselves to one another?
一人一人違うのにその中で
Even though each and every person is different,
一番になりたがる？
why do we want to be number one?

Yes, we are each.
世界に一つだけの花
a flower unlike any other in the world
一人一人違う種を持つ
and each and every one of us carries a different seed
その花を咲かせることだけに
We should focus all our efforts on
一生懸命になればいい
trying to make that flower bloom.
困ったように笑いながら
There are people who are constantly unsure of what they want,
ずっと迷ってる人がいる
as they laugh a little put out.
頑張って咲いた花はどれも
It can't be helped, all those flowers,
きれいだから仕方ないね
that did everything they could to bloom, are pretty.
やっと店から出てきた。
when at last that person comes out of the store,
その人が抱えていた
they're holding
色とりどりの花束と
a colorful bouquet
うれしそうな横顔
and I see them smiling happilly as they go by me.
名前も知らなかったけれど
I never knew their name but
あの日僕に笑顔をくれた
that day they made me smile.
誰も気づかないような場所で
we too are like flowers that bloom
咲いてた花のように
in places where no one pays any attention.
そうさ　僕らも
Yes, we too are each...
世界に一つだけの花
a flower unlike any other in the world
一人一人違う種を持つ
and each and every one of us carries a different seed
その花を咲かせることだけに
We should focus all our efforts on
一生懸命になればいい
trying to make that flower bloom.
小さい花や大きな花
Small flowers and big flowers,
一つとして同じものはないから
none are the same as one another.
