横浜の開花の基準となる桜の標本木は16日の時点ですでに4輪咲いていました。

17日になって気象台の職員が観測したところ、開花発表の目安となる5、6輪以上が確認され、横浜では2002年3月15日に次ぐ、過去2番目に早い開花となっています。
When the Meteorological Observatory staffs observed on the 17th, more than 5 or 6 flowers were confirmed as a guide for the announcement of flowering, and this was the second early blooming in Yokohama after the first time on March 15, 2002.
また、午前9時すぎに佐賀でも開花が発表されるなど、週末にかけて関東から西日本は続々と桜の便りが届く見込みです。
