南米原産で強い毒を持つヒアリは先月、東京港の青海ふ頭で繁殖能力を持つ女王アリが50匹以上見つかり、定着の恐れが指摘されています。
Last month, more than 50 red queen fire ants, the ants that have powerful poison from South America, are able to reproduce were found at Aomi Pier in Tokyo Port, and people have also shown that those ants would form ant colonies.
環境省によりますと、同じ青海ふ頭で昨日500匹以上のヒアリが新たに見つかりました。
According to the Ministry of Environment, more than 500 fire ants were found yesterday still at the Aomi pier.
個体の大きさがバラバラなことから先月に見つかった女王アリから生まれた可能性は低く、コンテナに紛れ込んで入ってきたものとみられます。
The chances of them being born from the queen ants found last month were low because of their individual sizes, and it was likely that they were in containers.
小泉環境大臣は引き続き周辺の調査や駆除を徹底して進めるとしています。
Environment Minister Koizumi also announced that they would continue to investigate the surrounding areas and consider removing them.
