山頂からは小型自動車ほどの大きさの噴石がふき上がり、海の近くからは白い湯気が激しく立ち上っています。

海上保安庁が昨日昼ごろに上空から行った観測では、山頂の北側に新たな火口が開き、流れ出した溶岩が島の北西側の海に達しているのが確認されました。
