まもなくクリスマスです。
神奈川県大井町では、街の名物を使った一風変わったクリスマスイルミネーションが人々の目を楽しませています。
大井町のJR御殿場線上大井駅では、町の名物の「ひょうたん」を使ったクリスマスイルミネーションが駅の構内に飾られています。
50年以上前の1971年に上大井駅で夏の西日を避けるための対策としてひょうたんが植えられたことがきっかけで、
この駅は「ひょうたん駅」として親しまれ、今ではひょうたんは大井町の名物やシンボルになっています。
駅の構内には様々な柄が彫られた「ひょうたんランプ」に明かりがともされ、クリスマスムードを演出しています。
ひょうたんランプは町民や企画した女子大学生の空間アーティストによる手作りのもので、約150個が飾られているということです。
この「ひょうたんランプイルミネーション」は25日まで開かれています。
