重さが標準の3倍ほどある巨大ウナギが島根県のダム湖で釣り上げられ、昨日から一般に公開されました。　
A giant eel weighing three times its standard weight was caught in a dam lake in Shimane Prefecture and opened to the public yesterday.
こちらの巨大二ホンウナギは、先月飯南町の来島ダムで町内の男性が釣り上げたものです。　
This giant two-spined eel was caught by a man in Iinan town last month at the Kurushima Dam.
全長1.1メートル、体重は2.9キロあり、一般的な二ホンウナギのおよそ3倍だということです。　
Its total length is 1.1 meters and weighs 2.9 kg, about three times the weight of a common eel in Japan.
「食卓に並ぶようなポピュラーな種類かなと思うが、なかなかこのサイズを間近で見る機会はないと思います。なのでこの機会にぜひ間近によってもらって、ウナギの顔もよくみてもらえたらいいんじゃないかと思います」

巨大ウナギは出雲市の県立宍道湖自然館「ゴビウス」で展示されます。
