オウムを作ってみましょう。
Let's try making a parrot.
このあやとりは、南アメリカのあやとりです。
This cat's cradle is a cat's cradle of South America.
珍しい始まりの形から始めますが、簡単なので一緒にやってみましょう。
You start out with an unusual starting (string) position, but it's simple, so let's try doing it together.
左手の人差し指と中指の間に紐を挟みます。
Hold the string in between the index finger and middle finger of your left hand.
この輪に人差し指と中指を通します。
Pass your index and middle fingers through this loop.
次に、この輪を一回ひねって、人差し指と中指に掛けます。
Next, twist this loop one time, and hang it on your index and middle fingers.
次に、人差し指と中指に掛かっている間の紐。
Next, this string hanging between your index and middle fingers:
この紐を左手の親指に、こちらの紐を左手の小指に掛けます。
This string goes on your left thumb, and this other string goes on your left little finger.
最後に、人差し指と中指に掛かっている奥の紐を、手前に外します。
Finally, take the string that is furthest back on your index and middle fingers, and pull it to the front.
この手前の紐を引っ張るとオウムの出来上がりです。
When you pull this front-most string tight, your parrot is finished.
ポイントは、この手前の紐を引いた時に、手のひらを閉じたり開いたり、閉じたり開いたり。
The key is, when you pull on this front string, to open and close your hand, open and close.
このように動かすと、オウムが羽を広げているように見える、というあやとりです。
This cat's cradle is such that when you move it like this, it looks as if the parrot is spreading it's feathers.
