Parents worried about water bottles at Japanese schools

最近さいきん、日本にほんでは夏なつがとても暑あつくなっています

Recently, summer has become very hot in Japan.

そのため、子こどもたちは学校がっこうに水筒すいとうを持もって行いくことが多おおくなりました

As a result, children often bring water bottles to school.

水筒すいとうは、熱中症ねっちゅうしょうにならないように水みずを飲のむために大切たいせつです

A water bottle is important to drink water to avoid heat stroke.

しかし、いくつかの学校がっこうで水筒すいとうの中なかに変へんなものが入はいっている事件じけんがありました

However, there have been incidents at some schools where strange items were found in water bottles.

2024年ねん6月がつ、兵庫県ひょうごけんのある小学校しょうがっこうで、保護者ほごしゃが子こどもの水筒すいとうから小ちいさな磁石じしゃくを見みつけました

In June 2024, a parent found a small magnet in a child's water bottle at an elementary school in Hyogo Prefecture.

調しらべてみると、他ほかの水筒すいとうにも同おなじ磁石じしゃくが入はいっていました

I looked into it and found that other water bottles had the same magnet in them.

この磁石じしゃくは、教室きょうしつで名前なまえカードを黒板こくばんに貼はるためのものでした

This magnet was for sticking name cards on the blackboard in the classroom

幸さいわい、子こどもが磁石じしゃくを飲のみ込こむことはありませんでした

Fortunately, the child did not swallow the magnet.

他ほかの場所ばしょでも、2023年ねん10月がつに九州きゅうしゅうで水筒すいとうの中なかに消毒用しょうどくようアルコールが入はいっていたり、2024年ねん2月がつに東京とうきょうで水筒すいとうから変へんなにおいがしたりする事件じけんがありました

In other places, there were incidents in October 2023 in Kyushu where disinfectant alcohol was found in water bottles, and in February 2024 in Tokyo where water bottles emitted a strange odor.

また、2025年ねん9月がつには、同おなじクラスの生徒せいとが友ともだちの水筒すいとうに薬くすりを入いれようとしたこともありました

Also, in September 2025, a student in the same class tried to put medicine in a friend's water bottle.

このようなことがあったので、多おおくの学校がっこうでは先生せんせいが休やすみ時間じかんに子こどもたちをよく見みたり、教室きょうしつの薬くすりや化学かがくの物ものをしっかり管理かんりしたりしています

Because of this, many schools now have teachers closely monitor children during recess and keep a close eye on medicines and chemistry items in the classroom.
