Lately, there's been a growing trend of young people who refuse to work overtime.
This trend is often called "Overtime Prohibited Communties".
Under Japanese law, it was decided that 8 hours per day, and 40 hours per week was the standard working limit.
Anything above this time is considered overtime, and must be decided via contractual agreements between the company and worker.
When a contractual agreement has not been signed, the worker is not obligated to perform overtime.
The overtime amount has been agreed to.
Normally, with a month, 45 hours is the limit.
Should a company enforce overtime over the alotted amount, they will violate Japanese law.
According to experts, overtime is not always necessary.
Often time may be derived from organisational problems within the company.
